This guide helps Troop 777 families prepare for Ham Radio activities, Radio Merit Badge work, emergency communication learning, and Jamboree on the Air. In the United States, transmitting on amateur radio requires an FCC Amateur Radio License or supervision by a licensed control operator.
1. Why licensing matters
Amateur Radio is regulated by FCC Part 97. A licensed control operator is responsible for proper operation, call sign identification, prohibited transmissions, third-party communication rules, and emergency traffic priority.
